I took APUSH last year and scored a 5. My teacher recommemnded:

United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination, Authors John Newman, John Schmalbach. I used this book and some Barrons flashcards. I bought the book through Amazon.

and how much did you pay attention in class or more importantly i should be asking how much did you learn in class and how much did you have to learn, because i find it very hard to pay attention through lectures eveysingle day and end up forgetting the next day.

@pi****tupid: I may not be the right person here. I enjoy history and my teacher was pretty good. We did several DBQs in class and they were graded how the AP graders would grade them. I did read through the book that I mentioned above twice. If one knows the timelines of when events happened in history, it will go a long way to passing the exam. To go from a score of a 4 to a 5 will depend on how well one does on the last essay. The last essay is typically one that cannot be BS’d through.

I did find that the old AP exams did represent how the MC section is put together but obliviously not the same questions. The old exams also give examples, of poor, good, and the best essays with critiques on how they were graded. It is worth the time to review them to see what the graders will be looking for.
