APUSH FRQ's

So in class, I've been doing poorly on my FRQ's.

MY main question is how long should a good FRQ typically be? I've been doing bad because I would be writing either too much, (4 pages) or too little (1 page double sided)

Thanks for your advice.

You’re writing too much? As long as you write within the specified time limit, writing too much is not an issue; the more the better. If your teacher marks off because you wrote 4 pages, your teacher is seriously mislead and I suggest referring him/her to AP Central for a bit of education.

agreed…more is definately better

I agree: the more information you can integrate into your essay, the better off you are.
There isn’t really a fixed number of pages you have to write (although last year I was told to have a minimum of 3 pages - not front and back though). As long you answer every part of the question and demonstrate mastery of the material - you should be fine.

I really hope your teacher doesn’t base your grade on how much/many pages you write rather than what/how you write it. That would be a shame.

Quantity is not quality, but there is a high correlation between length and good scores. I would say in general, the more the merrier. I know I wrote a lot for my APUSH FRQs on the exam and got a 5 :), and I kinda BSed some of my facts in a way.
