APUSH Review Book

glad I have buying review books to look forward to. Taking APUSH this scool yr. Lol

Hello everyone,
Can everyone please consider my situation and see which would be the best review book for me? Thanks in advance.
I will be going away for a month and I would like to see which book would be best to get ahead as I am going to take the course in my school this year. However I am also going to be taking AP Physics C and AP Calc BC and that might give me a hard time splitting the amount of the time on each subject (between AP Physics C and AP USH as I am already ahead in Calc)… I am studying SAT II Physics this summer as I did not take regular physics so I want to prepare so I don’t get overwhelmed by Physics C. So what I’m looking for is something so I can find the AP US class not as overwhelming and can have most of the critical material already mastered for the most part.
Again thanks a bunch in advance.

Hi. I’m taking 5 AP classes next year and I don’t have the money to purchase 2 review books for each class, haha. So I have to pick one.
I used Barons for both Euro and Art History last year and got a 3 on euro (which made me sad) and a 4 on art history. (Which i was perfectly happy with.) So I’m happy with the Barons books because they not only helped me pass the class in school, but helped me pass the AP Exam.
I’m debating between the Barons book and the Direct Hits book. I don’t want a book to just help me pass the AP exam, I want a book to help me pass the class itself as well. From that viewpoint, which book do y’all think is better?

^ I didn’t use either. I used REA and it helped with both the class and the test. It goes so in depth and tells you everything you need and more. I got a 5 on the test and had a 99 in the class, so yeah it helped.

Hey GUYS!

I’m self-studying, so if I get AMSCO and Direct Hits and read it thoroughly, will I get a 4/5?

Crash course got me a 5.
BUY IT.

I used REA (both) and got a 5, I had bought Kaplan, PR and Barrons as well. But,. REA was hands down thorough and complete,. .started with the prep book for a month before around spring break and then used the crash course book for couple of days before the test. I would also recommend the online quiz at Cengage to test your knowledge as you progress. Hope that helps !!!

My kid used ***Crash Course ***and 5 Steps to a 5 to prepare for the AP exam this spring. She did not take the AP US History course and hadn’t taken US History since freshman year, but took the test because she could satisfy some significant academic requirements with a 4 or 5 on the test. I can’t say whether the books get the credit, but she did get the score she needed.

Princeton is good. But it is best not to stick to only one book because no one book contains everything. I suggest starting a month before the AP, reviewing Princeton, then the Sparknotes book, then Princeton again…paired with excellent year-around studying that should get you a 5. I also made a website which you can use, https://sites.google.com/site/apushstudyguides/home?previewAsViewer=1</a> good luck in apush :D

I got a 5. I used two review books: The Princeton Review book and United States History by Newman and Schmalbach (not part of a series of AP review books). I highly recommend both. The second one is harder to find - I stumbled onto mine at a used-bookstore - but the content is worth the effort.

I’m using Princeton Review right now and while the way the chapters are set up is a little weird, it’s very easy to understand and grasp the material from it.

Direct hits is awesome

Have you ever heard of REA? My dad bought me their APUSH book, and I scored a 5 on the exam. You should consider it. It’s basically a condensed outline from 1492-2008, and it has 6 practice tests at the end (although I didn’t really have time to take those).

hey just wondering, besides Princeton Review, had you used any other book? Because I want to know if just by reading Princeton I could get a 5
