I know there are tons of these posts, but I was hoping to get an extra opinion or two (or three) on the matter.

My GPA is a 3.8 unweighted and a 3.85 weighted at a very very competitive high school. They do not release class rank and I hope I am within the top 10% of my class.

I have NO legacy even though my uncle has attended and my grandfather's estate left a large endowment to the university.

I have sent in two teacher recommendation as well as my counselor's recommendation and believe that they are all very strong. One of my teachers is a former professor of Sociology at Notre Dame.

I also have an additional recommendation from a VERY high placed school official.

My SAT score is 750CR/ 670m/ 650W FOR A 1420/1600 and a 2090/2400

I wrote a VERY strong, well articulated essay (but doesn't everyone!)

My extracurriculars include

I am a committee chair of a non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public of the human rights violations currently taking place in Israel.
I work with children afflicted by autism, down syndrome, and other mental impairments to teach them important life skills.

Teach a 6th grade Religious Education Class at my local church as well as a Youth Group Member

Please let me know if you think I have a good shot at acceptance, and I am also interested to hear what you feel about my recommendations. I feel they could help me, but I do not know to what extent.

excuse me if I'm wrong, but don't aunts and uncles qualify as legacies? Anyways, I think you're a good canidate for Notre Dame, I think that you have an above-average chance at being accepted.

I am a committee chair of a non-profit organization dedicated to informing the public of the human rights violations currently taking place in Israel...

...because Israel has no right to defend itself from suicide bombers. I read you loud and clear...

You may not like Notre Dame..relatively conservative place (IE: Pro-Israel)...

All that aside, I call it a match.

Just curious..what are you, Maronite? I understand why you support the Palestinian cause..whole ethnic thing, I suppose, but understand that it takes two, and while Israel hasn't been a complete angel, I dare say that the majority of the human rights violations are on the hands of the Palestinians.

I appreciate the responses from everyone, and while I try to keep this based on Notre Dame I do intend to respond to the last comment. The non-profit company I work with is dedicated not to just defending the "Palestinian cause" rather it is to raise the awareness of the average american to what is going outside their borders. We try (as much as possible) to maintain a fair and balanced view (not like Fox News).

What do you all feel about the effect my letters of recommendation will have on my admittance of rejection? The last letter is from someone who has a lot of sway with the school. How much of an effect does this usually have with the admissions officers?

Once again i would like to thank everyone for their responses they have really helped me. To go to Notre Dame would be the culmination of my life's work, and I appreciate that each of you have taken your time to answer the questions that I have put forth.

As for Heavenwood I realized I never answered your question: No I am not a Maronite, but your knowledge of middle eastern affairs not only surprises me, but impresses me. It is this type of knowledge that Imagine-Life promotes, and the proliferation of this knowledge is all I could ever hope for.

how many of them have "fair and balanced" as their slogan ? It was simply a play on words, sorry if you didn't catch the sarcasm, it gets tricky online sometimes.
