Does anyone know the state of the arabic program at Brandeis? How popular is it? How good are the profs?

It doesn't seem like it's all too popular to me. Whenever I see people talking about foreign languages, Arabic is always absent. O.o But I plan on minoring in it if I can.

I know a few people who take Arabic. They like the classes and the professors. It's not the most popular language, but certainly not the least.

Can anyone chime in on the current state of Arabic language instruction at Brandeis?

Last year, they completely revamped the entire Arabic program. Though I am not in it, I have a multitude of friends who are all in Arabic and they say that although it is an intense program, it is also a great program.

Thanks, Eliyahu2123. I had heard that they were revamping the program (which I take to mean strengthening it); any other details from anyone? Thanks again.

I’m planning on double majoring in Arabic (technically Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies) and International Relations and I’ve heard that while not the most challenging program on campus, it’s growing in popularity and the teachers are for the most part extremely into teaching their subject.
