Arabs at stanford?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a junior, and certainly thinking about applying to Stanford EA this fall. I'm also an Arab-American; does stanford have a significant (if at all) Arab population? I ask simply because I really havent seen many of my kind in high school and I hope that at college (particularly Stan) I can run into a few.

On a second note, do any of you think being Arab is a slight hook come admissions? Thanks a lot everyone.

Hello! I'm an Arab and I'm going to Stanford this fall. I don't know much about the Arab student population, though - check out this statistic.

Geographic Origin

California 3,061
(46%)
Other U.S. 3,226 (48%)
Foreign (58 countries) 367 (6%)
Asia 201 (55%)
Europe 43 (12%)
The Americas 78 (21%)
Middle East and North Africa 12 (3%)
Africa 26 (7%)
Pacific Basin 7 (2%)

3% of the student body hails from the ME and NA, but not all of them will necessarily be Arabs - in the same way that not all applicants applying from the US will be Americans (like you, for example).

Good luck!

Thanks a lot, you're being an international student is probably among those 12 though. I'd most likely be considered among the other americans applying

hey guys
i'm am from somalia, and i did attend the admit weekend. from what i could tell- the arab pop. is small ... but active. there is a msa (muslim students ass.) and other islamic groups...a pro- palestinian foundation....stuff like that.
in all, not too bad!

if u can communicate how being "arab" has impacted ur life, then i defn. think it is a hook
