How is architecture at VT? Is it competitive?

Virginia Tech's Architecture Program consistently ranks within the top 10 Undergraduate Programs in the Nation every single year. Its prestige in the field is HIGHLY regarded and many of its graduates are hired at top architecture firms. Admittance into the Architecture program is comparable to that of the College of Engineering.

Many of my friends are enrolled in the Architecture program here and they say that their work is extremely tough and competitive. I have witnessed my friends spending countless hours on projects and homework during their First Year studies. It definitely is NOT for everyone.

If you choose Virginia Tech's Architecture program, you will have many great opportunites post-graduation.

Since you seem to know a lot regarding VT's admissions. I think your answers are very good. What are the easy schools/programs to get into at VT? Are there any? Or do you know anybody in the easier programs? For example, I've heard it's easy to get into the education programs and the Apparrel, Housing, and Property Management school. Do you know if this is true? What is the lowest GPA/SAT scores you've heard of VT accepting or offering admissions to? Thanks very much.

Yes it's one of the most competitive majors VT has to offer.

how does landscape architecture compare to the other types of architecture in terms of competitiveness and difficulty...i was just accepted into landscape architecture this year, just wondering in case i ever wanted to switch out to a different form of architecture.thanks.

I'm currently a freshman at Vt. Architeture is extremely hard to get into, especially to transfer into once you are at school. You have to live at school during the summer and take classes with only one day off in order to catch up to the other students. If you're interested in architecture, you should come in as that major in mind and if yu weren't admitted under that then get a really high gpa, get involved and be prepared to spend the summer- but all of my friends who attempted to transfer into it were declined. good luck!! it's a great program
