<p>Yeah, none of the kids that I know of are aiming for top schools from my HS. We go to good schools, just not ivy league or anything.</p>
<p>Some kid took the SAT in 7th grade at my school and got 1400/1600. He took the PSAT in sophomre year and got 240/240. He doesnt brag about it because he knows if he did hed get the crap beat out of him. he is 3 years avanced ahead of everyone else in the class and has all perfect AP's and SAT II's, along with being a extracurricular ****, and having been published in science journals and all that crap.</p>
<p>If there ever was a sure in for HYPMS, its him. He doesnt brag cause everyone would hate him more if he did. Im incredibly jealous of him >_<</p>

<p>And yes, my public school is pretty crappy. Only a few go to elite schools every year, most go to the state public or community college. Ill be one who goes to an elite school ^^</p>
<p>Really, you have no idea how really stuck up they are. I had a friend in the program, and when I told her she should take her SAT2, she said: "Are you kidding? I am in IB. I can get in anywhere."</p>

<p>The salutatorian of our class was quoted in the yearbook in the "Gifted & Talented" section as saying, "I'm very priveleged to be in this program, for I can be myself and not waste my time around dumb people."</p>

<p>I try really hard not to be that stuck up smart kid...I mean, I do ask people what they got on stuff, but I don't push it if they don't want to say and I don't say what I got unless they ask. </p>

<p>The super smart geniuses in my school are not stuck up at all! They are actually really quiet, and really modest. Like this one girl I know is absolutely amazing, she always has the most awesome projects. For example in Spanish we were told to make a comic of a story. That class was a joke, if you did the work you'd get an A. So half of us show up with lined notebook paper drawings we did the period before and she comes in with this work of art! Everyone was just in awe, it looked like a comic out of a newspaper, my teacher put it in a picture frame lol. Oh and she's going to be valedictorian and probably the NICEST girl you've ever met.</p>
<p>So I guess it's different everywhere. I get good grades in most of my classes but that's because I study. I hate people who can just excel in everything they do, especially standardized tests those kill me because you can't really EARN the score, in the way you can earn your grade, you know?</p>

<p>I am by far the smartest kid in my school and well on to be the valedictorian. Im the only kid that has a chance at going to a good college. Thats why if someone calls me dumb, it doesnt make any sense and thats why i make them cry</p>

<p>It may be a tactless way of expressing it, but I'm sure a lot of advanced students feel that way. I know that I would hate being stuck in regular classes.</p>
<p>And yes, I flaunt my test scores from time to time. Probably shouldn't, but hey, it gives me a rush to be acknowledged as the best.</p>

<p>Same here. I'm trying my best to shift my image from "the smart kid" to "the nethack-obsessed wacko." So far, it's working.</p>
<p>Regular classes are fun, but frankly college admissions to me is more important so thats why I go for the heavy hitting classes</p>
<p>No.. my high school didn't have too many of that type. At least in C '07 & C'06.. don't know about others though..
There was one guy who would always brag (and lie) about his 'super high' test scores and grades.. but I don't think that gained him popularity anywhere.</p>
<p>Does anyone else think it's annoying when freshman try to get into conversations when you're talking about school and try to brag that they know so much?</p>
<p>Like one day my friends and I were talking about some AP Chem thing and then this freshman who was at our table and whom we knew was like "Oh no that's wrong this is the formula you should use and this is why....".</p>
