I’m a junior at high school, and most of my teachers don’t mind seeing a phone or even tablet out during class. I don’t see many laptop users though.

What would be distracting is when the students use their devices for something other than the class. Traditionally, most of us pay our respect and attention to the teacher, but unless the class itself is not necessary to learn the material (you could read your books, study by yourself), phones and laptops are essentially useful to get yourself focused on the other productive things that matter.

I don’t get distracted by others using cell phones or laptops. I’ll frequently use my phone in class but only in big lecture halls where it isn’t as easy to catch on to. Plus, one of my professors flat out said that he doesn’t care I’d we’re texting or whatever the whole time.
