So I’m going to my 2nd year of college this fall. Last year I went to a 4 year college. I took mostly GE classes and I only got one C+. All my other grades were A and Bs but most were A. This fall I’m still going back to the 4 year college, but I’m also going to community college. Basically I’m going to 2 colleges this fall (a 4 year and a community college). I’m just going to be taking 2 or 3 GE classes at community college. My question is are community college classes easier than the equilvalent course at a 4 year college? I know how hard a class is depend a lot on the professor, but I’d like some advice from people who had gone to both a 4 year and community college. Any help would be appreciated.
Sample size of one (ages and ages ago), I attended two public universities and two CCs in the process to of getting my undergrad degree. In general, I would say the CC tended to be easier. I do recall a couple of CC courses that I found as (more?) rigorous than my university courses. Good luck!
I am sure it varies by class and school but, they often use the same textbook so they are covering the same material. Unlike most UCs, GE courses at most CCs have relatively small classes, which probably makes getting help and having questions answered. Another difference is the UCs use Grad students who often haven’t perfected their teaching game yet - and are kind of forced into the role while they work on their PHD. Some are great but, most don’t have a passion for teaching. CCs typically have very experienced lecturers, often late in their career and wouldn’t be there if they didn’t really enjoy it.
Now, does that make the CC class easier.??? kinda… but you do cover the same material.
