Are D3 athletics worth it?

I was just wondering whether playing division three basketball would be worth it. I'm still not sure if playing a sport in college at a level that doesn't mean a lot to most people is still worth it. I'm thinking maybe just going to a larger school that offers more outside of the classroom and could possibly be a better experience socially. Do you have any thoughts/experience on whether playing college athletics at a lower level is worth it?

Some friends of mine did (one with Shaka Smart). If you enjoy the sport why not?

Some sports at some schools are tied in with jobs on Wall Street and the like but that is the exception.

Worth what?

I don’t mean to sound snide, but if you need it to be worth more than having an opportunity to continue to play a sport that you love…I’m thinking it might not be worth it to you.

I agree with JoBenny. My son would love to be able to play D3 soccer. Why? Because he loves the game.

Absolutely worth it! Also, many DIII schools are much stronger, academically, than DI schools and offer more outside the classroom opportunities.

I want to play in college I’m just thinking I may be happier at a larger school and right now I’d be going to a small d3 school. I will have to think hard about it the next few months and make the right decision. I definitely love basketball and am very honored to have the opportunity to play in college, just have to figure out what is best for me moving forward.

Thanks for the input
