One of my top choice schools offers interviews with an admissions counselor before or after touring the campus. I would like to know if they are beneficial or not. What kinds of questions are asked? Does it even help in the admissions process? Basically, what is the point in having an interview with an admissions counselor?

They can be beneficial if you have a question about the school that you can’t otherwise get answered. They can ask lots of different questions… but the two I’ve had were more conversational. Basically, they asked me what classes I was taking, what ECs I did, why certain things were important to me, what I was looking for in college, why I was looking at THAT particular college. You can look up lists online. Sometimes interviews are considered “evaluative,” sometimes only “informational.” Colleges that track interest may also care.
