Are my chances for Swarthmore now ruined?

Hello, let me just give some background information about my stats:

ACT: 35 (single sitting)
GPA: 4.13
Rank: 21/240
AP Tests (all self studied): English Lit (5), Chinese (5), Psychology (5), Microeconomics (5), Macroeconomics (5), World History (5)
Predicted IB Score: 45/45

I'm an IBD student so I don't take AP classes. I take the most rigorous course-load available.

Extracurriculars:
Editor-in-Chief of School Magazine
Founder and Co-President of School Chess Club
MUN member (won two local awards)
Volunteered teaching English to kids every Saturday morning
Semi-finalist winner of National research competition in China

American living in China here.

Now, the problem is that I forgot to request an interview. I stupidly assumed that Swarthmore would contact me instead of the other way around, and by the time I found out, it was too late. Does this mean my chances at Swarthmore are now in the garbage pile if I apply ED II?

My guess is no but I’m not the Director of Admissions at Swarthmore College, I only play one on cc. I would call the Admissions Office and talk to an Admissions counselor (if a student filling in answers the phone, do not ask them. They know about as much as you and I)

Take a deep breath.

No, your chances are not ruined. Swarthmore recommends, but does not require an interview. Living in China, there is nor guarantee that you would have received an interview even if you had requested one.

Now, take another deep breath. Good luck.

Ah okay thanks for the reassurance. I guess I was overreacting.

Also one more question: How is the party scene at Swarthmore? I don’t want to sound superficial, but does Swathmore have big parties where everybody and anybody can join? I ask this because should I go to Swathmore, I want to know if there are opportunities to cool down.

it snows at swarthmore. always pop to col down, nam sayin’

Swat has a few small parties but I def wouldn’t describe as a big party school. Other than a few of the sports teams, I think students are very open to meeting new people and letting everyone join in. (I’m not saying the teams are intentionally exclusive but those students spend so much time training together and bonding that I’ve seen them hang together as a crowd.) Lots of students take the train to Philly for fun.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Looks like my worries were unfounded. I got deferred ED2, but then got accepted RD. If I get rejected from Dartmouth, I might go to Swarthmore!
