Are My Classes Too Brutal? Or Should I Make Them More Challenging?

I’m a sophomore and these are my classes

1st Semester:
Honors Geometry
Spanish II
Orchestra
AP US Government & Politics
English II (honors is not offered)

2nd Semester
AP English Literature & Composition
Pre-Calculus
Orchestra
Biology
AP Gov

Should I change Biology and Pre Calc to honors?

Taking AP lit (generally a senior class) as a sophomore would be brutal, especially coming from regular English 2.
Have you taken Algebra2/trig already? If not, take that after Geometry (honors if offered).
Save Precalculus for junior year.
If Biology honors is offered and you’ve got a B+ and higher in your freshman science class, it’d be a good choice.

@MYOS1634 thanks for the insight. I’ve taken both Algebra 2 and Trig. My school does not offer an English 3 so the only prerequisite for AP Lit is a B+ or higher in English 2

That AP Lit is also only a single semester

From the original post, it looks like the OP’s school is on a block schedule. So they take ~4 classes a semester, but each class is ~75 minutes. So it works out to the same as a year-long course at a traditional HS. Although since the OP’s a sophomore, I would probably still save it for junior year and take Spanish III instead.

In which case, if you got a B+ or higher in geometry, I would take honors precalc.

2nd Semester
AP English Literature & Composition
Pre-Calculus
Orchestra
Biology
AP Gov

Don’t take AP English Literature as a sophomore. Wait until junior year.
Why are you hurrying your math? Will you have enough to take junior senior years?
Yes, I would take Honors Bio.

Honors and precalculus honors
Seconding Spanish III over AP lit. Save they for Jr/Sr year.

Depends on if you are truly passionate about taking AP Lit. In my school, even the smartest sophomores wouldn’t be able to pass AP Lit with the grades they want, but then again my school is ultra-competitive…
