Are my extracurriculars/talents decent? I plan on applying to 2nd tier colleges

-Piano (Taught myself at the age of 6. Never had a teacher and I can play Fantaisie Impromptu by Chopin very well)
-Band (Grade 9, played the flute)
-Baking Cookies for the Homeless (10, 11 general member)
-School newspaper (9, 10, 11 editor all three years)
-Chess Club (9, 10, 11 general member, but I'm a very good player)
-Class Representative (9)
-National Honor Society (11 general member)
-Bowling Club (9, 10, 11 general member)
-Skiing for three years
-Amazingly fast at typing (I can usually type 135++ words per minute)
-I can speak and write German (my father's German)
-Photography Club (11 general member)
-I can solve a rubik's cube in less than three minutes
-Great at cooking chinese food
-Softball (9 I played second base)

My standardized test scores and grades are great, but I'm worried that my extracurriculars/talents are not good enough. I want to apply to Boston College, Boston University, Tufts, Northwestern, UChicago, and UMichigan. My SAT score is 2290 and I have a 3.9 GPA.

Seriously? You’re including them?

They’re talents aren’t they? Not many people can type over 135 words per minute…

I’d just include chess, bowling, and newspaper (and I’m a little iffy on piano). Things that you did for only a year aren’t nearly as strong.

^^ That’s true Retrench…maybe you should become a secretary then. I hear they have schools for that. You’ll be a shoe-in for admissions!
