Are my grades a death sentence?

I have a 3.1 UW GPA and a 3.75 W. 1490 on the 2015 PSAT and I’m a junior this year in Washington. I have 6 semester Cs in full IB diploma. Am I screwed?

The low GPA and Cs will prevent you from making finalist. You should prep for SAT/ACT and look at other score-based scholarships.

I think the Cs are likely going to keep you from being a finalist, but don’t forget that there are many schools that offer generous scholarships just for semi-finalist and/or your grades and test scores. Check out U Alabama’s list of guaranteed scholarships, and the yolasite list of NM scholarships, as it lists scholarships for NMSF, too, and some are almost as good as NMF.

You may make NMSF, but you won’t make Finalist because of the Cs and lowish income. Being IB doesn’t matter.

As mentioned above, there are scholarships for those with your stats.

Will your transcript list your weighted GPA?

BTW…if you want to keep your scholarship at your university, you’ll need to get the GPA req’d… Why do you get so many C’s? Do you ignore assignments? forget to turn in work?

What do you mean by “screwed”?

Is it published any where that a C will make a difference?

@mom2collegekids

There must be a typo in your post, because you can’t mean lowish “income”.

With your weighted GPA and high SAT scores, you are still competitive for merit scholarships at many schools.

LOL…yes…I meant lowish uw GPA
