So, I’m currently a Junior and soon to be a Senior. I’ve accumulated my GPA from both Junior and Sophomore years since those are the years that colleges look at. My GPA came out to 3.79 W. Is this decent and to what colleges can I get into in California. Keep in mind I did take 6 AP classes in those two years and will take 3 more for Senior year. I also do extracurricular activities both inside and outside of school and I work to help take care of my family.

Your GPA is not bad- however, by my math, your UW GPA is around 3.2-3.3. Colleges tend to focus on the UW GPA.
3.2-3 is still not a bad GPA. You’ve taken a sizable amount of APs and admissions officers will recognize that.
It’s really hard to tell where you’ll get in just based off of your GPA. A match for you just based off of GPA alone is the CalState system- CSU Chico, CSU Humboldt, etc. They provide good solid educations for a great price, and there’s campuses up and down the state.
If you can post your ECs and any standardized testing, that would be a big help in finding schools!
Are you looking for Public universities like the Cal States and UC’s or small private colleges like Chapman, Univ of Redlands?
Test scores? Subject test scores? Intended major?
For the Cal states and UC’s, they use 10-11th grades in their GPA calculation. Senior grades are not considered for admission purposes, but you need to maintain your current GPA and pass all classes.
https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Based on your posted grades, I get a UC/CSU GPA (capped weighted) of 9 A’s, 14 B’s and 2 C’s= 3.60
Unweighted UC GPA of 3.28 and Fully Weighted UC GPA of 3.76.
Depending upon your intended major, your target UC’s would be UC Merced, UC Riverside and UC Santa Cruz.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.40-3.79 (capped weighted):
UCB: 2%
UCLA: 3%
UCSD: 6%
UCD: 15%
UCSB: 14%
UCI: 13%
UCSC: 59%
UCR: 78%
For the Cal States, it will depend upon what your test scores will be since they admit by major and eligibility index (exception SLO).
(UC/CSU GPA x 800) + (SAT Math + CR)
So San Diego State, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal state Long Beach, Fullerton and the rest of the Cal states could be options but your intended major and test scores will determine which ones.
Again for private schools, EC’s and test scores will be needed.
I would back out of one or two of those APs next year. Sr grades don’t really count (other than you have to get C or better) and you simply aren’t picking up much ‘course rigor’ and the schools you will qualify for won’t care. Senior year is pretty crazy and you will have LOTS of distractions.
With a 3.79 UCGPA and 1200ish SAT, you would be very competitive for most programs at UCR and UCM. UCSC could happen for less competitive majors and would be worth an ap. All the CSUs except CP SLO would admit you for most majors. Depending on what you are looking for in a college - SDSU, Sonoma and Chico kind of represent the ‘types’ SDSU is big, has D1 sports and a good mix of local and non-local students. Sonoma is small and very residential while Chico is mid-sized and in a true college town. Check them out - make notes of what you like and don’t like - then look for similar campuses.
