What colleges do you think I can get into with the grades/classes I have? / California

I’m currently a junior in high-school and was wondering what colleges I could possibly get into with the grades/curriculum I currently have. Particularly California colleges since I live in California

Sophomore Year (awful, I know):

Weighted GPA: 4.2

AP World History - A
Precalculus - A
English 2H - A
PE - A
Spanish 2 - A
Chemistry H - A

Junior Year (first semester only):

Weighted GPA: 4.2

AP Calculus AB - B
AP Physics 1 - B
AP Lang - A
AP US History - B
Spanish 3 - A
ASB - A

I hope to get a 4.3 or higher this semester

I just received my first SAT score back and I got a 1350 (average), but I hope to retake it and get at least a 1450.

And then for my senior year, I plan to take:

AP Calc BC
AP Spanish
AP Psych
AP Civics
AP Literature
ASB

And I also just got elected as Senior Class President for the upcoming year, but i’m not sure if that will even help with admissions.

Intended major? UC/CSU GPA? https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Are you looking at Private schools and/or public? What is your college budget and will you need FA (either merit/need-based)?

@Gumbymom Quite honestly, I have no idea what my intended major will be. I don’t really like any of the subjects I have taken and I’m more of a creative, artistic person (yet, I haven’t much experience in studying the arts because I’ve been too focused on maintaining the typical academic curriculum). I’m most likely looking to attend a public school and I don’t really have a budget at the moment, but I will need an FA.

I just checked, my UC GPA would be 4.17 :frowning: But If I get only one B this semester, I could possibly get a GPA of 4.25

SLO admits by major, so you really need to know what you plan to study. Also SLO’s acceptance rate for each major varies from around 7-8% for Computer Science to over 90% for Dairy Science and you cannot go in Undeclared, so something to consider.

For the UC’s, depending upon your intended major, you may need to have a direct admit (Engineering/STEM) but if you are leaning towards a non-STEM field, you could go in as Undeclared. Switching majors however, from Undeclared to a competitive later may be difficult.

You also need to determine your budget and how much financial aid you may need. No point in applying to schools that are unaffordable. Sit down with your parents and talk about costs. All the schools website’s have Net Price Calculators where you can input your parents financial information to get an idea of school costs.
