I am applying into high school and Dalton is my first choice. I got 5,6,6,7 on this ISEE. I know, not was I was hoping for. However my mom is an alumni. I am also a A student and have very very solid recommendation letters. My interview also went very well. I am also very good at computer science, I even have an app on the iOS App Store. I feel good about the rest of my profile, but I don’t test well. Do you think I’m in good shape, or did I screw it up for myself with these scores?
I don’t know anything about what Dalton wants, but can share that the admissions officer in a very academically-competitive school in another major city (not New York) told us that “anything below a five and we wonder whether the student will be able to do the work.” By that standard you look OK, though of course higher scores are better. It may make a difference where in the range of those stanines you scored (“5” encompasses 19 percentile points - 40th percentile to 59th, for example, which seems like a wide range). Best wishes with your application.
