are my SAT scores too low for wharton ED

SATI (took it once)

CR : 670
Math : 700
Writing : 730

SATII

Math2 : 740
US History : 740

I understand these scores are not impressive at all, but i do have impressive and unique ECs that should make me stand out from the crowd. I plan to retake the SAT test again in october, but i don't think i'll have enough time to prep for it. should i just give up on wharton?

Give it a try. After all, you don’t lose anything if you try.

Agree with Miss Princeton.

However, if you’re implicitly asking whether or not you should re-take, do re-take the SAT I and the math SAT II. And study. Really try to get your SAT I to 2200+ and your math SAT II to 770+. This is Wharton, the most prestigious undergraduate business school in the world. You need unbelievable stats to even be seriously considered.

Thanks for your comments guys. I will re-take the SAT I in October, but as I’ve mentioned already I don’t have enough time to study for it. I’m hoping my falling asleep in the last SAT test for 2 minutes (I couldn’t sleep the night before) prevented me from getting the score that I would have gotten had I been more awake. If I get deferred, I will most certainly re-take the SAT II as well. Thanks again.

Don’t waste time retaking SAT II. However, I would retake the SAT I, try to get 720+ at least and higher in Math. If you were deferred in ED after getting higher SAT I scores, it’s probably not due to your SAT scores. Spend the time honing your essays instead.

What’s your unweighted+weighted GPA?

@cbreeze: thanks. your words do help me out a lot.

@craisin:

Unweighted (out of 4.0)
9th grade average term GPA: 3.63
10th grade average term GPA: 3.79
11th grade average term GPA: 3.925
cumulative unweighted GPA: 3.8

I know 3.8 looks mediocre at best but I’m doing better every year in harder classes so I’m not sure how it’d actually look. Just for reference, I took 4 AP classes, band, and foreign language in my junior year.

weighted GPA: 99.9

i don’t know what the weighted GPA is out of but if you only take core classes it can’t get higher than 100.

looks grim XD?

honestly, just retake them. it’s not that big a dela

That’s a sharp improvement curve for your GPA, which can only make you look good to the admissions office. Well, good luck on Saturday! (I take it you are taking the SAT I’s again, right?)

Do what you really want most. :)

Some people find the ACTs easier, so definitely look into that. But for the time being, try for the SATs again. It won’t hurt you if you do poorly on it, because you can always use Score Choice. Good luck!

Thanks for all your comments! I am re-taking the SATI this Saturday so I need all the luck in this world, especially because I got absolutely slaughtered on my practice SAT test I took last weekend. yikes! I seemed to have forgotten how to do basic subtraction :(

Thanks again!

So the scores came out today, and I have to say I’m not really pleased with the scores at all.

CR : 610
Math : 730
Writing : 650

i did have a slight fever when i was taking the SAT, but i’m sure the colleges don’t care. should i send in this new score just for the extra 30 points? or should i only send the old scores?

It couldn’t hurt to send the new scores for the 30 points. CR is damn-near impossible to improve.

well, you don’t really have a choice. Penn requires that you send all ACT AND SAT scores (from both administrations)

well, i did send all my scores before the result of this test came out. so i have a choice of sending this one in or not.
