Hey guys - I want to transfer into Penn CAS into Economics. The admissions office refused to give me any info on transfer stats. Are my stats competitive enough?

Transferring into Sophomore Year.
School: Florida State Univ.
First Semester GPA: 3.8
Second Semester GPA: 3.4

Principles of Economics: A+

SATs: 710V, 750M, 710W

Just based on these stats alone, am I in the ballpark range of acceptances?

Thanks!

16% is the transfer acceptance rate. Your SATs look good - but what is pulling down your GPA? If you got a 3.8 your first semester, that means you got a 3.0 your second semester. What happened?

I got a 3.8 first semester and a 3.4 second semester so my cumulative is a 3.6. this was last year. I forgot to add that I’m currently taking a semester off for family reasons. But all else aside, will be GPA be sufficient?

It’s really going to depend on what your classes were… Also, on your essay. Why are you transferring? Why Penn?

Haha…Florida State is a great school - really legit. but seriously, the classes are way not intellectually stimulating enough for my tastes. I actually submitted my deposit to Brown back in high school and didn’t go because the financial aid package was ridiculous. I took up a nice scholarship at Florida State…it was going well until I realized I needed more intellectual rigor.

what else you got?
