You guys know that the Fall is the time of the open houses and informational sessions. Is it beneficial to go to them? Like do you learn things that you might not have if you didn't go? Or should I just visit the campuses on my own time?

Do both. Open houses are pro-university. For schools you are seriously considering, walk around, talk to students, and stay for a night if you have the time.

Open houses normally give you more time and options to learn about the school. They included everything a normal visit to a college would included such as an info session and a tour. So if you are few to go when there is an open house I would go then.

The Open Houses we have attended provided a lot more information than you would get in a normal info session + visit. Definitely take advantage of Open Houses if you can. But look at the details to learn more since I’m sure it varies a lot from school to school…
