Are people with ADHD discriminated against in the admissions process

Say the individual was super smart and was very academically strong(a star student that highschools would want), but say that student had ADHD and took medication for it, would they discriminate and not let him in. But also is there anyway for them to know?

This is hypothetical, I do not have ADHD.

I think the bottom-line is:
can the individual “manage” the ADHD and perform effectively?

If so, then my guess is that it’s a non-issue for admissions. I am just a parent, not an AO, so I don’t know for sure.

However, once the student enrolls, it is a significant issue to acknowledge to the school’s health center. I would imagine that all schools require disclosure and monitoring of psychotropic medications taken on campus. Psychotropic drug use is not something that should be concealed, because if it is not disclosed in advance and the drug use is discovered, then it would be a serious infraction and be grounds for severe disciplinary action.

Ditto what GMTplus7 said.

The same will be true for colleges. Students are expected to meet the same academic standards as students without ADHD. If they are smart, hardworking, and have the appropriate academic preparation it shouldn’t matter. Their meds will be stored at the infirmary and not allowed in the dorm room. Many schools have learning centers where student can get additional support (including many of the large well known schools).
