Are SAT subscores more important than SAT total score?

As you all know SAT has three parts.
I have constantly heard that there is a difference between a person who got 2100 - 800 in math 700 in writing and 600 in reading and a person who got 2100 - 700 math, 700 writing, and 700 reading.
I heard that the person who got 700 700 700 has a better chance of admission because he or she performed well in all areas.
My SAT score doesn't reach the 2200's but it's in the 2100's and I got 700 or above in all the three sections. Is that still good enough for prestigious selective colleges?

Varies among colleges, many colleges do not even use the writing score for admission, many others weigh the math and reading scores as the most important scores giving the writing section minor weight; only a minority consider it equal to the other scores. You also have variances even at a college, such as math being considered the most important for engineering or science, and accepting somewhat lower reading scores from applicants who are from places whose native language is not English.
