Ok, I guess this isn't a serious question but doesn't it seem this way? They make all the people still waiting hold out for that little bit of hope and delay giving a decision as long as possible. Then after you have convinced yourself you still have a shot, bam! They give out the rejection or waitlist. Does anyone else get this impression. Maybe I'm just going crazy because they will not tell me anything useful and I've been waiting so frickin long! Sorry about this useless rant. I just need to try to calm myself down.

No, but you may feel better venting on the Duke waitlist parents forum thread…at least they HAVE a decision, even if they waitlisted twice the # of the actual freshman class…
UMich has been pulling this for years…

i feel ya. the admission system is really f***ed up.

Well the school certainly does not have the ideal of giving students a decision as soon as possible, it appears they have a motto of giving decisions as late as they can. Other posters who recently got a decision was surprise due to recent conversations on the phone. I think a group of students who will not be attending UMich decline admission offer leaving the school to offer more admission so they can have an ideal of their yield rate. Though from my understanding tomorrow is mid-April and we all should likely have a decision.

no they are not, judging from my decision. As long as your application was honest, all-rounded and can proof just how bright a student you are they will give you a chance no matter your background/ unconventional path. Applying earlier doesnt guarantee admission, it just means your app will get read first. If they like what they see, they’ll hold on to it on one side. Once they find an equal or better app, they take time to compare then and make a decision.

Yes. Not only are they sadists, they are also incompetent and rude. I frequently question their mental soundness.
