Are the GPAs cal poly lists weighted or unweighted?

Their website has a list of average gpa for incoming freshman for each of their colleges. For the school of engineering it is 3.98. Is this weighted or unweighted? I’ll put the link below.

Well, they are CSU GPA’s which are weighted. But if it eases your mind a little, I got in to Biomedical Engineering and my CSU GPA was only 3.5

How do you calculate your CSU gpa?

The CSU website has a calculator that will give you your CSU gpa.

Could somebody link me to it?

Keep in mind that Cal Poly SLO uses grades from 9th through 11th (not 10th & 11th as other CSU’s) with honors points granted for courses designated as “honors”, “advance placement” or “ib” on a high school transcript, up to eight semesters.

Here is a CSU gpa calculator, but disregard reference to only using 10 & 11th grades.

Thanks. So this:’‘No more than two approved honors level courses taken in the tenth grade may be given extra points’’ means that even if i took three honors classes as a sophomore i only count two of them?

“even if i took three honors classes as a sophomore i only count two of them?”

That is correct. In the GPA, they count no more than 8 total extra honors points. I do believe however, that they take into consideration if you pushed yourself and have more than the 8.

For example, I had 22 total honors points throughout freshman to junior year. I was really disappointed to find out that they would only count 8 of them.

My unweighted GPA is a 3.51 while my weighted GPA is a 4.01. Huge difference. My Cal Poly GPA is a 3.72. The average Cal Poly GPA for business was a 3.87, yet I was still accepted under early decision. My test scores were only average. What I believe got me in was my rigorous course schedule. Nothing goes to waste.

That was really helpful slimsta. Thanks a lot!
