I will be graduating from the regionally accredited online school, Keystone, but know that some colleges will require me to apply as a homeschooler. Are there any schools that have come out and said that they do not accept homeschoolers? Do you know any that require a lot out of homeschoolers? I know to check my prospective college choices' admissions pages and I have done so, but out of curiosity I was wondering this.

Not any I can think of. Colleges actually like homeschoolers because they often have strong motivation strengths. If they tell you to take the GED, do not do it!

Because of the fierce competition for my D’s major, she applied to a lot of schools and had no trouble with the academic side of the admissions, except for one school in the northeast that wanted her to do the GED or some other uncommon test. HSLDA stepped in and all went very nicely from that point on, and she was accepted w/o having to do those other odd tests. Love those HSLDA folks!

Some colleges simply have additional hurdles for homeschoolers to deal with (like additional SATIIs or requiring a GED or some such nonsense.) However I am unaware of any college that will not accept a homeschooler.

classicalbk, I appreciate HSLDA too.

Do you have to be a member of HSLDA in order to recieve their legal assistance? Can I join in I attend a private virtual school but will be classified as a homeschooler by my state? My parents and I are extremely new to everything and anything involving homeschooling but I would like to be prepared for the worst when it comes to college admissions.

D just went through this with colleges. The website of a couple of colleges stated they wanted the GED for homeschoolers, but when she called admissions they just had her send in a more detailed syllabus.
