the Asians tend to walk together in herds thus making the actual population seem higher.

I work pretty much right next to Stuy, lots of Asians there.

this. although whites walk together too. but whites dont all have the same features(hair, eye, skin tone) and some might be ethnic (greek/italian/etc).

freshmen walk in herds too and you know immediately that they’re freshmen.

Long Island, Westchester, NYC, Northern NJ, eastern seaboard megalopolis = 40% of Cornell undergraduate student population.

That’s cause in stuy its over 50% asian population lol

While that may have an element of truth to it, I don’t think it is simply that there is more diversity in white physical appearance. I think it has more to do with the fact that white people are a majority here, so it doesn’t really stand out when white people clump together (in fact, it is natural). And in my experience visiting and living in various parts of Asia, the situation there is similar, except completely reversed: Asian people don’t think of themselves as clumping together (much like white people here do not), though groups of other ethnicity naturally stand out.

is it easy to “fit in” at cornell

im asian and i actually dont feel like there are that many asians in cornell, 16% seem right. a plant sci class i took wihch had 30 people only had 4 asians in the class

lol @ not many asians…

i get a feeling there are more koreans though not sure if you are. it also depends on country of origin…a chinese friend in ILR feels surrounded by koreans.

i’m mexican-american and definitely few around (though they are there if you look)

What about West Coasters— will I feel like the only one? It definitely seems that way…

cali is very well represented including many cali-asians

jakeiscool, are you chinese?

no ^^
are cali-asians alot diff from nyc asians lol

thats not really a question for cornellians to answer…

lol i think that question was specific to the asians at cornell

are you allowed to take PE in your junior or senior year instead of your freshmen year?

first off it depends whether you’re fresh off the boat or not…

i tend to find that cali-asian girls are hotter than nyc-asian ones :)

jakeiscool, i’m applying ED to cornell too.
what college are you thinking of going to?

are there a lot of asians in aem or ilr?

few asians in ilr are korean…durno aem

i would say there are enough asians in AEM to be representative of the cornell campus. in fact, the incoming freshman class (at least last year) was, surprisingly, a rather accurate portrayal of the ethnic breakdowns at cornell, imo.
