Are there alot of nyc students at cornell?

Are there alot of nyc students at cornell?

Yes. There are.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure there are. I’ll be one of them lol  Are you from NYC, jakeiscool?

i think there are more students at cornell from long island in general D:

Countryangel: yea i am from nyc, but im just thinking of the most random qs (lol for those who have noticed) cuz i think im gonna apply ED this fall. btw congratz on getting in!

how diff are long islanders from nycers lol

theres definitely a lot of nyc people. the nyc people have done a bunch of meetups already on facebook.

ohh
is it common for nyc students give rides to other students up to cornell?

im pretty sure there are more from NYC than long island… and yes a lot are from NYC.

stuyvesant alone sends 40+ kids to cornell every year basically. Bronx and brooklyn tech sends another 20 or so each so thats 80 students at least, from 3 high schools… which is almost 3% of the cornell population

^ clarification: 3% of one undergraduate year… there are ~3,000 undergrads/yr.

idk whether there are more NYC kids than long islanders, and i’m not going to debate it, but you can’t deny that long islanders are more annoying. i lived with it enough growing up, wish i didn’t have to deal with it at college too, y’know?

loll
wow stuy sends alot to cornell. is cornell the most of all the ivy league that stuy sends to?

oops your right, 3% of 1 year haha

Yes, cornell is. Cornell is also the most popular ivy and one of the most popular colleges stuy kids apply to. stuy sends about 20 kids each year to the other ivys each. and each year, a few stuy kids transfer to cornell hahaha so you end up with at about least 50 per year from stuy =)

are you from stuy? also jw are you japanese (your username)

no, itachi is just cool. hes a char from naruto the manga/anime if you dont know but you prob do haha. and yea i was from stuy

Well, assuming demographics don’t change significantly between class years, it’s still safe to say that 3% (or whatever the actual figure may be) of the Cornell population is from NYC, not just one class year.

I actually do not know very many NYC people at Cornell. I know they exist, but most of my friends for some reason have either been upstate or some other part of the country.

how is the asian population at cornell

soso? like 16% (chinese korean japanese indian etc) or so when i entered, probably different now

I thought that Asians make up a huge part of the Cornell population…could be wrong, though.

Asians are definitely a noticeable presence on campus, especially in engineering ;)

I have a hard time believing only 16% of the school is Asian. Not sure the % that did not mark a race on their app, but I am guessing most of them are Asian, because the school feels more like it is more like ~1/3 Asian, or maybe that is just because I hang around a lot of them?

it definitely depends on what your major/school is. engineering has a SIGNIFICANTLY greater asian presence than, let’s say ILR or hotel. (i think?)
