Are there any Education majors here?

I know there is a sub-forum, but Mods can we please keep this here; the Education forum gets little to no attention.

Anyway, if so- which school do you guys go to and what specifically are you studying?

I’m currently a sophomore at Pace University and my major is Childhood Education with a concentration in History. However, next semester I’m transferring to SUNY New Paltz to pursue a Birth-6th grade certification with a concentration in History.

I love Pace and at the time that I applied it was the only school that had a TeachLive Tech lab in NYS, but since then New Paltz also has the program, I’m very excited

My friend is an Education major at my school (I believe the major is specifically called “Early Childhood Education and Development”) - her older sister was an Education major as well and is currently a Kindergarten teacher for Boston Public Schools.

I’ve been out of school for ages… what’s a TeachLIve Tech lab??

Its a virtual classroom. The intent of it is to practice classroom management the students are on a smart board, its 5 of them with unique characteristics- and you can increase their willingness to lesson so the can this things, curse each other and you out et . They’re remotley controlled by another person at a different school and they’re also able to answer questions and remember previous lessons and people

Wow!

Why a virtual classroom as opposed to a real one?

You use the avatars during your education psych courses where youre learning how to manipulate the different theories- humanism, behaviorism etc. We also do observations during this class
