Are there any half unit/3 unit classes offered at UCSD?

I'm doing the intercampus visitor program in the Spring to UCSD and would like to know if there are ever any half unit or 3 unit classes offered? The reason I ask is because I'm going to be doing an intense internship and since I only need 10.5 more units to graduate I should take as close to that as possible (possibly 2 4-unit courses and a 3 unit course)..I've been searching through the general catalog for 2010-2011 but wasn't able to find anything, maybe I'm not looking in the right place?
Anyway thank you for your help!

Pretty much all graduate seminars are 3.0 units…

pretty sure they dont have 3 unit courses. just take like cogs 3 P/NP or something. or take two and three 1 unit seminars?

some chem labs are 3 units … 6BL used to be before it got renamed.

Are undergrads allowed to enroll in graduate seminars? And COGS 3…Intro to Computing, I’ll check into that to see if they’re offering it in the Spring.

^ Yes they can. I know several undergrads taking only graduate seminars this year. But unless I’m mistaken they are 4 units, not 3. At least the ones in the cogsci department are.

Why not just take an easy 4 unit course?

@astrina

It’s a 4 unit course now.

technically no, since 6BL no longer exists :slight_smile: new curriculum = more points = new class

(but i’m sure 7L is just as awful as 6BL was. gotta keep the intimidation going.)

You can take Gospel Choir for 2 or 3 units.

Just about all the graduate seminars in psychology are 3 units.

And yes they’re easy to get into–you just need instructor approval if there are available seats in the course. Typically you’ll get their signature if you’ve taken the upper-division undergrad version of the topic and/or you’ve done a 199 with them or a professor with similar interests.
