The minority thing does help though...I don't honestly see it as a bad thing. Wasn't Affirmative Action made to give non caucasian races a little boost after so many years of unorthodox discrimination?

not to asians...

Man, even your compliments are racist! A smart Mexican-American is an "anomaly?" She should teach Latin-Americans English? Man. You ARE hopeless.
"spanish-- natives of spain, and the criollos too, are white." What?! You JUST SAID that they were "inferior" and that you were glad that you weren't spanish, or "spick" as you call it. You are beyond hopeless. Amnesia is right. Hispanics come in all colors and creeds.
I stand by my "snapping." Ya, I can get kind of carried away when racism and intolerance are involved. But still. This hole deserves it. His post about my "impure" blood and that I am a "phenomona that nature never intended" stung so badly tears started to come to my eyes. I just stared at it for a while, at a complete loss for words. This * is hurtful.
Like I said, people like him will naturally sift to the bottom in life.

No, not Asians and not for Jews...although I don't think Affirmative Action specifies. I guess once the minority manage to up their numbers then they no longer qualify for a bit of leeway...

Hi amnesia! lol i can't remember on which other thread we've talked in, but take cares, man!

now i'm an asian who doens't agree with affirmative action, but i really don't think that being part of a certain race makes you "smart" or "not smart".

anyways, sorspanky, dont take summskter's words to heart. although it's not directly stated, he's trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records for "Most Curse Words Used in a College Confidential Thread"

k i'm in no way involve with all this....but sorspanky stop calling them "spanish". that is soooo wrong and it bugs me. people from Mexcio are MEXICANS not SPANISH. they SPEAK spanish. that is their language. that is like calling Americans english. we aren't english....we simply SPEAK english. and don't hate on the MEXICANS. unfortunately their families live in poor areas b/c they have just come to the US from Mexico and are used as cheap labor.....American bastards take advantage of them. because of this their children don't get the best education. it's not their fault. i'm not MEXICAN but i thought i should share this. that is all.

Samian- You didn't read the whole thing, did you? Don't take MY words to heart? Read this little excerpt which was directed towards me:
"never did i call you a "spick." you aren't a spick. you are half-spick. this makes you not a white kid, nor does this allow you to call yourself spick. you are a mix of races, a phoenomena that nature never intended. you are an impure blood. and your offspring will carry your impurities. your mere existence will cause a chain reaction of future mistakes. for the love of god, do not plant your seed, except for in a cup or in tissues. because we all know your spick side will get the better of your head.

oh yeah, and hell no being hispanic will help you much. the blood from which you came already sets you back several steps behind your white/asian superiors."
Ya, I got carried away. Let's see how you would react.

spanky: Once again, I am a girl. Guess your "superior" genes didn't give you the ability to remember a simple fact for five minutes. You're not even refuting the fact that I am smarter than you.
I'm not in a superior position? I am shunned? You JUST SAID that I was white! What the hell is wrong with you, seriously? Why don't you contradict yourself a few more times? And by the way, I am perfectly accepted by society. I haven't gotten any s*** about my ancestry from anyone but you. And the next person will get the same treatment. You and people like you who spread hate and try to hurt people as much as possible so damn hard are the scum of the earth.

My husband's family emigrated from Toledo, Spain to the Spanish Terrority that is now Mexico, in the late 1500s. Some were thought to be Crypto-Jews who were fleeing the Spanish Inquisition. One branch of the family (my husband's) settled in Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado...so, technically they arrived in the Western parts of America BEFORE Anglo Saxon Europeans even knew it existed. Other branches still live in Mexico. All branches ultimately intermarried with the Jicarilla Apache. I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where my family had settled in the early 1900s. And my d is a National Merit Finalist and my son just scored higher than most graduating seniors on the Duke Talent Search. So I dare anyone to call them inferior.

My children are extremely proud of their wonderful heritage and I personally, and on their behalf, take offense to the comments made here by sorspanky. Sorspanksy, your parents must be soooo proud of you.

I think he refers to me there
but I feel too tired and disgusted to reply...

Just one thing...
If you can't accept other races, DON'T EVEN CLAIM YOURSELF AS AN AMERICAN.
because that will embarrassing to do so.
United States is not a right country for you.

summerskater i totally got your back. im on your side. im not mexican/spanish/latino/chicano. im black. but were both minorities. hes an *******. and i hope u go to a better college and hell end up workin for u babe. then u can fire his stupid ass.

hellothere: SHUTUP. stop actin like all mexicans are poor and helpless. not all of their children get bad education. and they dont all do cheap labor. i kno u were tryin to say somethin smart but it still came out stupid. that happens to alot of people on CC.

Sorspanky either is commenting that way because he is bored and wants confrontation for fun, or he is a dumass.

It is ignorant to avoid statistics that show hispanics DO HAVE LOWER IQ AVERAGES than asians and whites, however there are MANY reasons. First being diet. Asians have large amounts of fish in their diet, which is known to enhance the mental abilities of a person, and my cousin is proof because he was diagnosed as autistic and now is four and has recovered because of fish oils and other treatment. Also, asians, like whites, generally focus on education far more heavily than other races. The average hispanic is striving to help support their family (just come to South texas) so survival is higher on the list than education.

There is, however, no correlation between race and IQ--only statistics grouping the two together. Intelligence comes on its own, not from race. What matters is the individual more than anything. My grandfather, who was a complete hispanic, was a migrant worker. Schooling was not forced upon him because he was needed in the fields, but he chose to go to school and did so, while holding a job on the farm. Valedictorian of his class and attended UT. It comes down to heritage and society more than anything, and for hispanics in the US survival precedes education in many cases, whereas for many whites life is pretty easy.

I am hispanic, but I am not valedictorian. I do, however, feel my EC's are amazing because of the amount of dedication I put into them, but by CC standards they lacking in leadership, service, and all that other crap. I am heavily involved in martial arts, art, music, cooking, etc but I also do a lot of extra studying such as computer building, theoretical physics, etc. I do these because I enjoy them, not to look good. Apparently being a 1st dan in tae kwon do and helping teach class is not leadership by CC standards.

I could be valedictorian, but I do not find grades to be all the important to be honest. I try hard enough to stay in the top 3% of my school, but I do not see a point in wasting time to get another 12 ranks to be valedictorian when I could spend it studying what I want, or enjoying my life. Simply put, the price would not reap enough rewards in my opinion.

Oh, and I am 100% hispanic. I haven't been rejected anywhere though (waiting on Princeton, but in at MIT, Rice, and Cornell likely letter). I'm not "stellar" by CC standards either (2150 SAT I, 2150 SAT II's, 89 UW, 13/458, full IB, 5 AP and 7 IB by graduation), but these colleges are not looking for numbers--they are looking for good students who happen to have good numbers. Being a good student is more than doing perfect on whatever is assigned to you, and sadly most people here do not seem to realize that.

Well said Sephiroth226...and is that fish thing true? If it is, I'm so going to eat more.

Yea it is. Fish oils tend to help connect neurons more efficiently, and my little cousin can attest to that. He was 3 and still didn't speak (he was having brain seizures apparently) and they diagnosed him as austistic. He started taking the fish oils and in a few months he started to speak and actually focused on people (he would stare aimlessly before, even when addressed by his parents). Oh, and he hooked up his first super nintendo on his own haha.... (I gave him an SNES--best console ever!!! with PS2 in a close second--and he loves it)

Zombies Ate my Neighbors anyone?

Bombaring others with excessive swears do not prove him/her wrong, summerskter. It only makes you immature. Obviously one should not be racist or sexist, but to simply "flip" and lose control can be disastrous when he/she grows up and obtain a job. Anger could accomplish goals via creating fear, but it rarely does so successfully. Abusing the adversity can only excerbate the vice. Therefore you should diminish the offensive diction, and provide your counterarguments in an organized and calm fashion.
BTW, I am 100% Asian.

Sephiroth, I have to say that your little cousin is probably not autistic...

I didn't speak either until I was 3, but my parents did not think it a serious issue (they did worry that I am a mute though). The doctor said the reason I was mute was because I am living in an environment with so many languages/dialects spoken (Chinese, Russian, and many other southern Chinese dialects). That I was confused with which language to speak. Eventually I chose Chinese as my primary language somehow, which made my mom sort of upset for a couple days... Granddad said that kids speak late tend to have a good eloquence skill (I agree, since I became captain of the debate team in 10th grade)... And I have a rather outgoing personality. Therefore I don't think your little cousin is autistic...

I remember I was on a bus and suddenly started speaking! And I still have the memory of rejecting fish oil (which I didn't take any)...I just didn't like the smell. It is really good for children though. Don't worry! Your little cousin is a bright kid!

So Japanese rules... G, look at how many fish they have every day! lol
No wonder they claimed themselves as the greatest Asian race during WWII...

guys, let's not be rude to summerskter. I'm not taking sides or nothing with summerskter b/c of race or something (btw im asian). I know summerskter have responded in a blatant way, but seriously this remark

"whisper (this sort of valedictorian doesn't exist) whisper"

was very rude. There's no such thing as "there's no hispanic vals" There are many hispanic valedictorians and students that get into top colleges.

Sephiroth, I think that while the IQ stat is relevant, there are many things to consider in relation to those facts. Diet, as you mentioned, as well as economics and social pressures, which you also mentioned.

Nevermind that the validity of an IQ test as a measure of intelligence has been under fire since the concept came to be. It tests how well you've learned a set of what is considered to be "common" knowledge, and makes you work some puzzles that you can definitely learn how to solve irregularly adroitly if you've seen them before.

very well said sephiroth.
dusk123 - im asian too and eat fish. But we don't eat it to become "intelligent" or something. LOL It just happens to be the asian culture! (just little info there) Back to the topic, fish are rich in DHA, which that's the main reason why it's good for the brain.

"whisper (this sort of valedictorian doesn't exist) whisper"

The above remark could not have been done out of sheer malice. It is my opinion that the speaker wanted to be funny. Let's not overreact.

the aforementioned remark's not funny, For ME at least.
