Are these colleges good choices, given my stats?

Hey,

So my GPA is around a 3.75-3.8. My SAT's were a 2170 (760CR, 720W, 690M). I took three subject tests, and they'll all be around 700-750 (Bio, APUSH, Lit)

I'm active at my school; I've run 10 seasons of track, am president of my class, and am in NHS. I also do youth court, Latin Club, Debate, and Academic Decathlon. I've won a bunch of awards at the state level.

I've taken 4 AP's so far; 5's on all of them. (APUSH, BIO, LIT, WHIS)

My senior schedule is: AP Vergil, Ap Calc AB, AP Physics B, AP Gov, AP Psych, and SUPA English (Syracuse Univerity Project Advance)

How are my chances for these colleges?

Bowdoin-match/reach
Claremont Mckenna-match/reach
Amherst-high reach
Johns Hopkins-reach
Oberlin-match
Colgate-match
Wesleyan-match
C. William&Mary-match
UMaine Farmington-safety (I live in Maine)

If you need some more info, just ask. Thanks

Oh yeah–my GPA is unweighted. My school doesn’t do that for some reason.

What’s your rank?

Given your matches and reaches, is that really the best safety for you? You might want to look at some LACs with less selective admissions but a better fit than UMaine-Farmington. (I’m assuming here that money isn’t an issue since you haven’t mentioned it as a factor. If it is an issue, then you need some financial safeties and UMaine works just fine in that capacity.)

Might look at Holy Cross-similar to Colgate.

Nobody here can “chance” you any better than you can by comparing your own stats to the numbers published for each school. All of them (except maybe UMaine) practice holistic admissions, so the adcoms will need to look at your entire application package in the context of this year’s applicant pool.

Most of those schools are similar enough to suggest you have a fairly clear idea of what you want. So they might be good choices, but you haven’t said anything about the setting, majors, social atmosphere, or other features that could make for a good “fit”. Oberlin & Wesleyan are fairly different in atmosphere from Colgate.

Almost all of them are among the 50 or so most selective schools in the country (Colgate might fall slightly outside that range.) Although your qualifications are strong, I think there is a slight risk you’ll be shut out everywhere but UMaine. That’s a rather different kind of school than the others. So I agree with M’s Mom. Add at least one or two less selective LACs.
