Are these good prep books? I need a major score improval

I have a Barron's ACT prep book, and it's titled "Passkey to the ACT." It's kinda a smaller one, probably 8-12" by 4". I also have the "Real ACT Prep Guide." Should these be good to raise my score several points, or do you think a better book would be beneficial? I'm just really wanting to start studying, and I'm signed up to take it in September. I'm personally wondering if maybe I shouldn't wait to take it in October, so I have more studying time. I just took it in June for the second time(took it first in December 2007), and got a bad score(20), math was my highest with 24 and everything else sucked pretty much. It's worth noting that on my first two ACT's, I haven't studied AT ALL. Like maybe 1 hour total of studying time between the 2 tests.

I feel I could get a 30+ on the math and english sections if I study a lot.

So, are these the best books? And should I take it in September and October, or just October and study a lot the next two months?

Yea, Barron’s is supposedly harder than the real test. Use up the other non REAL ACT books first. When you feel that you’ve used these prep books to their full potential, take the REAL ACT tests because those are the most similar to the real thing.
