Are these good summer courses?

Okay, so I REALLY want to go to ILR. I also plan to take summer courses at the Univeristy of Washington. I plan to take 5 courses, one course (precalc) will be for both A and B term, and thus I have four classes during A and B term to choose from (2 from A and 2 from B). I heard that students who would like ILR would like classes in sociology, economics, and government. My plan is to take the following:

A term: - Comparitive politics (gov) or murder (sociology)
-Precalc (only so I can take AP Cal in HS next year)
-Intro to philosophy (Phil)

B term: -Juvenile delinquincy (soc)
-Precalculus
-International Macro (Econ)

Do all these classes seem like they would be good on my resume? Or would ILR see classes like Juveile delinquincy and find them weak? Should I instead take just three classes offered full term or will taking five total look better?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not taking them because I'm concerned on what will look better, I'm interested in all of these courses. I just want to make sure I'm on the right track.

the preCAL is good I guess for you to take CALCULUS in HS…

those sociology courses are ok…but ILR doesnt focus on murder/criminology…

but you take what you want. also consider what might help you compete for other colleges…

i took intro to psychology and intro to humanities during a high school summer.

My other colleges are not as selective. ILR is my DREAM/REACH/IDEAL school for me.

I’d love to take intro psych/intro humanities but it would mean taking like 4 or 3 classes onlly and not 5. Will they care more the content of the courses or the number of them I took?

those are decent enough courses…i just mentioned what i took…

not sure that you MUST take 5 courses during the summer…are you sure you can ACE them?

Okay, I have a better list.

-Precalc
-Economic Sociology
-Intro to Phil.
-Intro to Psych
-International Macroeconomics

And yes, I will ace all of them.

getting good grades is better than having a full schedule for these summer courses, I would advise you to know the add/drop period for the summer and know which class to bail on if you can’t pull straight As.

sorry for the late reply. Math classes are generally worthless. You can take AP calculus to get the ILR math credit, but even that is useless because you can take a simple math test at the beginning of freshman year that anyone and their mother could ace. Intro philosophy isn’t that relevant to the ILR curriculum, despite what anyone else might say. The other classes sound useful though.

^I would hardly call math worthless on a general knowledge level, disregarding whether or not it can be used to place out of a requirement. IMO everyone should learn up to at least basic calculus.

Yeah plus I need that credit in case I get rejected and apply to other schools. I want to learn cal just in case ignoring comes back and bites me in the ass someday.
