Someone told me that MIT does not take transfer students. If the high school rising sophomore will be taking couple classes per year at community college (no more than 5 credits per semester) will he be considered transfer student by the time he graduates? What is he does summer programs for credit?
Thank you.

That’s incorrect, but in your situation it doesn’t matter. If you participate in a dual-enrollment program, you still apply as a freshman no matter how many college credits you expect to earn.

Transfer status only applies if you’ve been enrolled as a full-time degree-seeking student at a college (and NOT a high school) for at least one semester. Taking dual enrollment classes does not make you a transfer in any way.

Thank you.
