I want to transfer as a computer science major but I’m wondering if that will be harder?
It would be easier than say, UCLA. If you don’t have a 3.9 - 4.0 GPA and are missing more than 1 requirement, UCLA pretty much automatically rejects you.
I heard a guide make this claim during a tour “All that stuff you hear about one major or school being harder to get into than another is simply not true”. Sure, this could be spiel to try and get prospective transfers to apply, but I’d like to believe there’s a kernel of truth there. I’ve found USC to be far more holistic than other schools. You don’t necessarily need a super high GPA to get into Viterbi (although it certainly helps!). As long as you complete the minimum requirements, you definitely have a shot at getting in. Nothing is a for sure thing though, so backups are good I made the mistake of not having many backups the first time I applied to USC.
It’s just as easy to get into the film school as Dornsife?
@zettasyntax - I think we might have to disagree on this…“You don’t necessarily need a super high GPA to get into Viterbi (although it certainly helps!).”
Viterbi’s acceptance rate has always been much lower than USC’s overall acceptance rate (it was 10-11% when USC was in the 16-18% acceptance range) and I really think in that in Viterbi in particular, you do need a super high gpa. Sure, they are holistic, but I believe holistic along with very high stats is the name of the game in Viterbi. Which means you need the holistic passion and the high stats. There could of course be exceptions, but my feeling is those are pretty rare in Viterbi.
