Are Indians considered a minority for things like apply to programs that help minority groups get into med school, etc.?

HAHAHA. sorry.

No, we are by no chance considered a minority in US admissions.

The acceptance rate is harshly low for us. Good luck.

Indians form the second highest international population after Canada. Go figure.

You may be surprised, but in some colleges, yes we are an under-represnted minority. Specifically rural liberal arts colleges.

Yes, we are an Over Represented Minority!

Indian=major admission drawback. Far too over-represented and competitive at the top univs.

I dunno, at my school, I’m a minority, and I’ve been invited to the minority dinner and stuff.

@blue- At the big universities, Indians ARE representative. I’m sure there are at least 50 students of Indian origin(20 odd from India itself) in the Class of 2014. At some of the small LACs, you are likely to be a minority, coz…EVERY international is a minority with the small number of students :P

UNC isn’t a small LAC. Its got 18k people on 1 campus. And from what I understand there are about 6 people from India. So it all depends on the school.
