I know what the politically correct answer is, I want honest opinions. Will URMs or poor students have a hard time fitting in at these schools?

I highly doubt it... Williams is becoming more and more diverse ethnically and economically. I don't think you know what most people's backgrounds are until you get to know them... Everyone wears the same longunderwear and mittens during winter....

i'm int'l (asian), and when i visited williams, there was one asian student (from same country) working in admissions office. She was very honest and told me that williams was a bit elitist and that a student from low-income family might feel culture shock. She added though that everyone was friendly and it was really up to the person to adjust.

I think that we (low-income students) will have a culture shock to some degree anywhere we end up, especially if we're hoping to attend a college with prestige like Williams (or Amherst). I've only heard good things about the people and the community at Williams so I'm not too worried.
