Though not in college yet, I'm considering becoming a lawyer when I'm older. To those of you in law school, what do you love and hate about the profession, from the experience you've had thus far? Overall, are you happy you chose law as your focus, or do you wish you'd chosen something else?

As I recall, there was a very nice thread about this in the Parents Forum (or Parent Cafe). It was fairly recent...try doing a search.

first of all, the last people you should be looking to for answers on this are "those of you in law school" -- those in law school still know nothing about what it is like to be a lawyer. being a law student is nothing like being a lawyer, other than the fact that they both can involve stress.

here is a thread that may be the one that the prior poster is refering to. from the parents forum -- includes posts by many current and former attorneys who express a wide range of opinions as to how they felt about being attorneys:

since you are not even in college yet -- i would strongly urge you not to become too focused on the possibility of law school at this point -- you have plenty of time to explore your interests. the more actual lawyers you can talk to in order to find out what they REALLY do, the better. don't just ask if they like their work -- ask why and what they do, and consider what type of people they are and whether what they find appealing would in fact be appealing to you.

Here's the one I was remembering: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/509527-those-you-who-know-lawyers-what-your-opinion-profession.html?highlight=lawyers
