are you one of the smartest kids at your school?

Am I a genius: no, not that I know of
Am I one of the smartest students at my school: definitely

No. Being at a top 10 school in TX, everyone is smart.

Yea, its a sweet reputation to have though. All the hot girls are nice to me....

lol.............

Yes. Haha. NERDISM. :D

Someone randomly asks me in 9th grade... "Are you going to beat down ___ and be valedictorian?" Now I had no such plans, nor did I think it was sane to start thinking about such matters so early in high school.

But Mr. ___ apparently marked me as a potential threat (he had planned since 9th grade to be #1), and so the rest of the class did too. It's common knowledge that he studies his arse off.

People think I do too. Just that image I have to maintain. However, people who are in classes with me know I'm usually out asleep or dozing off (especially in USH).

So I think it's a misconception that I'm smart at my school, but I know there are plenty who are smarter than me in other things (perhaps not in all things, but definitely in particular areas).

I was by far the smartest person in my high school.

Nope. I think I have the highest GPA, but ask anyone I know and they'll run off 5-10 names in my grade before coming to me, if that few. I can seem like a dumbass.

No, not exactly. By far there are a few others who surpasses me greatly. But if you're talking about well-roundedness and emphasis on extra curriculums, then yes, being able to juggle well (at least for the previous years) has always been my forte, and people have come up to me to ask what's my 'secret' of juggling good results with impressive extra curriculum activities.

But to answer the question, by far, no, I'm not the smartest, and I'm not going to be any time soon.

Hmm....smartest? Maybe...depending on your definition of smartest.

smart as in "studies hard, but not too hard; gets straight As without being psycho; very good standardized test taker (but one of my friends "beat" my 35 on ACT with a 36); top five in the class but not number one."

People in my school definitely bring up my name when talking about the "smartest" and people in my classes remain convinced I'll be valedictorian (highly unlikely as I've been in band four years and as a regular, non-honors/AP class it slightly lowers my GPA). Honestly, I don't really care and I'm really glad my school doesn't post official ranks. I go to an all-girls school and that would get very ugly very quickly.

In terms of well-rounded, I am v. involved in band and a short list of clubs like Model U.N., but I know girls who are far better and juggling extra-curriculars than me. One girl in my homeroom has been on the varsity basketball team since freshman year, has been in all honors/APs like me, is now co-president of NHS, etc etc. and STILL manages to get straight As. She may not test as high as I do, but she beats me hands down in the well-rounded department.

I'm not the smartest in that I take the hardest math class (there are 2 kids taking multivariable calc next year), or get the highest grades all the time (I got a B in AP Art Studio, first B since 4th grade, and an 89 at that - 90's an A). I'm smart in that I don't have to be psycho to get the grades I do, and that everyone in my grade associates me with being smart (I hold myself responsible for everyone doing well in US History in the 4th quarter, but that's another story.) I'm glad my school doesn't rank; it's an all guy's school and I'm sure it would get ugly.

I'm not really the smartest person in school, but seem people think I am a genius for some reason. Even the guy who probably is the smartest thinks I am the smartest. I'm not saying I'm an idiot, but you know... But its nice to be thought of as a genius. No one second guesses what you say...

bewareofnerd, I know what you mean. I mean, when you can post a study guide on the internet, not know an answer, write-in "panda" just to fill the blank, and then the next day have over 100 people ask you how you knew panda was the answer, then you know that your peers think you're smart.

Some people take my sarcasm to be truth... It can be sad sometimes, when people believe you when you are being obviously sarcastic and joking... but some people are bad at picking it up, i guess

yes, naturally so

im not a genius or anything though

I'm #1 in my class. Most people consider me to be fairly smart, but I'm really not. I'm quite immature and stupid. The people just below me in rank deserve my position much more than I do.

BewareOfNerd: yes, it is pretty depressing..im WAAAYYYY sarcastic, and ppl are always giving me skeptical looks and stuff

I think that I am one of the 3 smartest kids in the school, but most other people don't see it. My grades are very high however, and I don't need to try hardly at all. I never study, not even spanish, and the only B I have ever gotten was in biology just because I didn't really care

Haha, I'm going to sound pretentious in this post. Oh well.

I'm in the top 5 percent of the class, but I'd wager that I'm probably one of the smartest. I am also one of the laziest. I have a few B's on my transcript because if I think homework is a waste of time, I just don't do it. I don't bust my butt or anything. I have the best work done:grades earned ratio. I'm also probably the most well rounded. Most of the top in the class are math/science people who obtain mediocrity in the humanities. I'm great at the humanities and pretty decent at math/science.

I'm predicting that there will be some surprised looks cast my way when college admissions rolled around (class of 2007...)

Man, I sound very arrogant... sorry :P

Mmm...well, I'm probably among the hardest working which ended up making me pretty smart, I guess? Unlike some of the born geniuses here on CC, I almost always am trying my hardest and always struggling to keep those A's. But it ends up working out in the end most of the time, so yeah. Therefore...if it came down to taking tough classes and doing well, I'd probably be among the top, yes.

The way people look at me, I guess you could say I'm an underdog because I usually just keep it all kinda quiet...
