Are you supposed to get an email about financial aid if you got accepted?

My friend told me if you get an email about financial aid for ucla and cal, then you know you got in. If you don’t get an email about that, is it a bad thing? Is this just another one of those myths? Ppl who have been accepted last year from either of those schools, did you guys get an email regarding financial aid?

Probably a myth.

Emails don’t necessarily mean anything. I received an email to apply for regents at UCLA and people kept saying that was a sure sign that I was accepted. Nevertheless, I got rejected lol :stuck_out_tongue: I’m apparently one of the only people on this forum that has experienced such a thing. People were shocked, haha.

On that subject, Cal just sent out acceptance notices via financial aid emails by mistake.

Universities have got to be more careful with them emails, haha. My admission counselor at USC one time had sent me the tax info/social security information of another student! You think people would learn to be more careful with such sensitive info.

@Ohm888 That’s hilarious. I posted this thread cuz my friend told me if you get any updates about financial aid for Cal, then you know you got in. But I didn’t get one so I was worried. But I definitely feel like it’s a myth, he never even got into Cal anyways so it’s not like he has personal exp. Plus the schools I’ve been accepted to so far didn’t give me a financial aid update before revealing their decision.

@ericbadmon When I applied, there was the whole housing page myth for UCSD, I think it was. If the wording changed on the housing page it meant you got in because they got wind of who was accepted and updated the page before the official announcements. People were going nuts. It was not correct.

@Ohm888 hahaha that’s hilarious. I swear these myths can be real out of pocket sometimes, mainly cuz the wait is so anxiety-inducing and feels longer than it really is. People on the UCSD transfer forum were goin nuts last months cuz on one page of the website, it says transfer results will be revealed starting at mid-march, even tho when you look onto the portal it says late april
