I have been approved for in-state tuition to University of Arizona because my mom lives in Az even though I go to school outside of the US. Are there forms or any paperwork I need to submit ahead of time. She claims me on her taxes but I live with my dad who is not a US citizen. Is providing my social security number enough or do I need to do anything else?
Are your parents married? If so, make sure you use your mother as the parent for ‘signing’ the FAFSA if you are applying for FA. If not married, I think you have to use your father and if he isn’t a citizen he can’t sign the FAFSA electronically. You’ll have to figure out how to do that.
I think UA will tell you what they need. Did they issue you a letter granting instate tuition? Keep it. In Florida there is a form you fill out claiming Florida residency (short). AZ may have something similar.
If your parents are NOT married, you will be required to use your dad on the FAFSA because he is your custodial parent and you reside with him more of the time.
You need to ask AZ what the need for documentation…but if you have already been approved, m bit sire what the issue is.
I am wondering if they are going to ask for any paperwork before I enroll. My parents are still married but live apart.
You need to call or email the university and ask them directly. On the UA registrar website it looks like there are required forms.
You may need to wait to submit the correct form until after you have physically moved to Arizona.
Look for the “Dependent Residency Classification Exception” form on the University of Arizona website and read through it for what information may be required.
Definitely ask the university directly.
