Hello! I am attending UCF this fall with in state tuition through my father's residency in FL. My concern is when I fill out fafsa, will it affect my in state tuition with UCF if I put my mother as my dependent? She resides in MD where I am currently housed but my father's residency in FL was able to qualify me for in-state tuition. So main question, who do I put as my dependent on FAFSA if I still want to be considered in state tuition for UCF. Does it matter? Both of my parents support me equally. I'm thinking I should put my father as my dependent on fafsa, since I am depending on his residency in fl for tuition purposes.

You are your mother’s dependent, she is not yours.

FAFSA and instate tuition are not connected. You answer the questions on FAFSA as asked and defined. Who have you lived with most during the last 12 months? Sounds like your mother.

Many states give instate tuition if one parent lives there, and Florida is one of those. I’m sure they noticed from your high school transcripts that you went to high school out of state.
