Is ASU really that big of a joke?

I tell people im considering going there and they laugh and ask why

I was admitted to ASU's business school as a sophomore transfer/undergraduate which is pretty highly ranked as multiple colleges/programs at ASU are

Why does everyone think ASU is a joke and tell me im wasting my time going there?

im starting to ask myself how i could get a good education/career started at a uni that has such a bad academic reputation?

Because it is viewed mainly as a party school with really attractive girls, and people think people go there to party only.

Arizona has only three public four year universities, of which ASU is the largest.

So it probably gets students from the whole range of students who go to four year universities, from the tippy top students to those who are barely capable of attending a four year university.

Ditto what eagle said. Also ASU has an acceptance rate over 90% which does not seem attractive to most.

I live near a large public university that has in the past been rated the #1 party school in the country. While their is plenty of socializing going on, it isn’t by any means all students. I see plenty of business school students who are working very hard, and STEM students also buckle down. You choose whether or not you’re a partier. You’ll have that choice at a lot of schools.
