How does going to a branch of the armed forces before going to a college affect your chances at getting in? Does it affect your chances at all? I know someone that got money for college after he served in marines and I thought the experience would be good.

P.S. I don't really know how the transition works so does anyone have a website where I can learn more about this? this being going into the armed forces before going to college.

ya ive been considering this too, i want to serve in iraq after high school because i feel like its an obligation for me...but afterwards i want to attend college. it would be like a 3 yr delay.

Applying after a military obligation has its benefits - at almost any school - gives you priority at many - you apply as an independant student which puts you in a different catagory for financial aid - some states will actually give free tuition at state U's - be able to tap into the military benefit for education - <<<can do that while in the military as well depending on where you are stationed.

Another option if you are considering entering the military is schools with ROTC programs.

well see with me, and idk about the OP, my parents would still pay tuition, the money would go into my pocket...If i enlisted then came out, i would be applying just like as if i was a senior. Would my military experience be very helpful?
