Why wouldn't it make sense? We got beat by a team that started guards that are 6-0 and 6-2 (granted, they had a huge frontcourt), and neither of the starting 2 guards at Ohio St or Georgetown were above 6-3 either, which is Russ's height. So I don't really think size would be the problem. Russ has NBA potential and has proven he can play defense on guards. With Howland's defensive reputation, I don't think he would want Roll or Shipp chasing around the oppositions most athletic players full-time.

Kind of a stretch .. but he will develop.

Yeah, this is a good point. I'd hate to not start Shipp though.

"I don't think Kevin Love will start right away. Maybe towards the middle of the season. I believe they will keep Aboya and Mata in the frontcourt, and then bring Love as the 6th man shall either bigs get in foul trouble."

would you bench a 5-star center for part of the season?

Love will be able to contribute immediately, but Howland is a defensive-minded coach. I am not saying that Love will be playing garbage minutes though.

I don't think it would be best for Love to start from Game 1. I think that Aboya and Love should play backup the first few games, and Mata should be PF.

Kevin Love is good, possibly a lottery pick after his first year, but he's not going to be top 5 yet.
