art and pre-med

How is Haverford for a combination of studio art/art history and pre-med. Are these interests too diverse to be a reasonable combination for college (at Haverford in particular)? I would guess that bio would be a likely major, but the student is a reasonably talented painter/sculptor who loves bio and has an interest in medicine. Thanks for your feedback.

I think it’s a great combo/balance and I knew someone who was an art major AND pre-med at Haverford. The art history classes are at Bryn Mawr which has an excellent department.

You won’t be able to find another school more supportive of exploration in both the natural sciences and the humanities. The president of the College is a Haverford alum who majored in both the natural sciences and the humanities (chemistry and philosophy) and went to medical school. He talks about it all the time and encourages students to do the same. The art history department for both HC and BMC students is at Bryn Mawr, but it is extremely well-known and well-regarded as among the very best art history programs in the country. So, coupled with Haverford’s amazing sciences, you couldn’t choose better for what you want to do.

in addition to art history, the Haverford has some outstanding studio arts/fine art courses. As suggested by other posters, Haverford is an ideal choice for a student with a broad focus on art and science (and ultimate interest in medicine)
