What’s the college known for (other than its stunning campus)? I was looking at several LACs to apply for RD, and I was considering Bryn Mawr because I heard about it frequently but don’t know much about it.
more specifically, how is the college’s pre-med program & life sciences?

posting for my sister btw

BMC has an excellent reputation among graduate and medical schools. Also, you’ll want to read about both BMC’s and Haverford’s curricula in biology, biochem and pre-med as you can take courses at both schools. While both colleges will prepare you for med school, my interpretation is that Haverford’s program is a bit more chemistry and biochemistry based.

Bryn Mawr has an incredibly high rate of acceptance for med schools. The stat I’ve heard is that everyone who applies gets into at least one school. The science departments are very supportive of the students. Its easy to gain research experience.

I would advise taking into bio at haverford, which is easy to do, because their’s is just a better format and curriculum, in my opinion.

Also plenty of people are pre-med without a science degree and are able to complete the reqs.

There is no college in the country with a statistically significant 100% acceptance rate into medical school. College statistics for medical school application success are notoriously biased. Some undergraduate institutions weed out their pre meds with grading curves, need to obtain a committee recommendation etc. Ability to get into medical school is also highly dependent on your state of residence.
BMC has excellent departments in the sciences and in many of the other liberal arts areas.
The best post bac pre med program in the country resides at Bryn Mawr so I would expect the support, advice and teaching to be superb. BMC does not filter their students in any way
and supports all students in applying to medical school. The acceptance rate according to a BMC talk in November was 70% for all applicants and 94% for applicants with a 3.5 gpa and a 10 on every subtest of the MCAT (average for accepted medical students in the US).

Best dept at BMC = art history IMO. BMC is also well-known for Geology, French, Chemistry, Cities.
