Art at Dartmouth

I just got accepted (hooray!) and I'm thinking about majoring in either studio art or art history. I was just wondering how strong the art department is at Dartmouth. How are the art professors? According to collegeboard, 7% of students major in art and 10% major in history... but that doesn't really tell me much about what the atmosphere is like.
Any feedback would be gratefully received :).

Studio art is a lot of work but the job prospects are dim. But I'm not discouraging you, you should do what you like. I had one art class and the prof was really weird. Could someone please complement me?

I just graduated past june, having majored with honors in art history and having taken loads of studio art classes as well. I was interested both in design and art history, so it was difficult to make the decision between the two, but I found the studio art classes, while engaging, to be thoroughly exhausting. I loved the studio art classes but stayed away from painting (the most labor- and time-intensive) - the architecture classes are amazing, as are the sculpture courses. Check out engineering 12 (product deisgn) - one of the best classes I've taken at Dartmouth.
